Brake fluid is a type of hydraulic fluid that is used in vehicle hydraulic brake and clutch applications. It is in charge of converting force into pressure and amplifying braking force. Simply put, when you press your foot against the brake pedal, brake fluid converts this force into pressure on the front and rear brakes, causing the vehicle to stop. Because liquids are incompressible, it works. Moisture is one of the most significant factors that can impair the performance of a vehicle’s brake fluid. As brake fluid ages, it can absorb trace amounts of moisture from its surroundings, including the air; this is known as hygroscopic absorption. When brake fluid becomes too moist, problems can arise when the fluid becomes hot during braking, causing the moisture to evaporate inside the brake lines.
